Well here we are in the Lake District! This is Windermere, England’s largest lake. It’s about ten miles long.

It only took us an hour and fifty minutes to drive here from Liverpool. We arrived around 2pm, had a bit of lunch and then picked up the keys to our apartment. We’re staying just outside of Bowness-on-Windermere.

Here’s where we’re staying. ‘Meadowcroft’ was a house built for the Kenworthy family about a hundred years ago. It has now been divided into separate apartments.

It’s very nice inside.

We have a lovely view of the gardens and Lake Windermere in the distance. There is also a tennis court and putting green, not that we’ll ever use those facilities.

We had a short walk down to the lake.

Lots of boats.

The National Trust owns part of the lakefront.

Sheep.

We are looking forward to exploring this part of the world over the next week. We had dinner in Bowness and then walked back to the apartment. That’s all for now.
