Here is Mum in front of Knowsley Hall, which we visited yesterday.

Knowsley Hall is the home of the Earls of Derby, stretching right back to Stanley, the step-father of Henry VII, the first Tudor monarch. It was Stanley’s assistance in the Battle of Bosworth that ensured the defeat of King Richard III.

The Hall is still the private residence of the nineteenth Earl, and is only open to the public for five days a year. We had a great tour of the principal rooms of the house, focusing on the art collection. It is a beautiful place but they don’t let you take photos.

Knowsley Hall has 2500 acres of grounds. There’s also a Safari Park, but we didn’t go there. Apparently the monkeys like to rip off your car’s windscreen wipers.
