Today we had a delicious breakfast in the hotel’s Garden Room, followed by a walk through Green Park to Buckingham Palace.

img_4446When we got back we had been delivered Christmas presents from the hotel: Scottish fudge and Fortnum and Mason biscuits in a musical biscuit tin!

At 11:30 we had an invitation to a champagne and canapé Christmas reception held by the hotel manager, which was lovely. Then we moved on to lunch: after a Christmas Fizz Cocktail I started with the smoked venison tartare with mixed berry and vanilla marmalade and Mark had the filo baked goats cheese with port stewed red onions. This was followed by a pink champagne sorbet to cleanse the palate. We both then had free range roast Norfolk turkey with pork chipolatas, bacon rolls and mixed seasonal vegetables. The turkey was succulent and flavoursome. We finished with a traditional steamed plum pudding with brandy sauce and then coffee with mince pies.

We are both now back at the apartment with belts groaning. We watched the Queen’s Christmas Message on BBC1 and are now viewing Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

I don’t think we’ll need much for dinner!

Tomorrow we take the Eurostar to Paris!
