Now, I don’t want you to think that all we did in New Zealand was eat, but it certainly was one of our major pastimes. On the Monday following the wedding we drove from Kumeroa to Napier, stopping off for lunch at the Mission Estate Winery.
The Mission Estate is the oldest winery in New Zealand and was founded by Marist priests. It’s a beautiful building nestled on the side of a hill. From the terrace where you dine you have wonderful views of their vines, Napier and the Pacific Ocean beyond.
I had the fried gnocchi with goats cheese and marinated vegetables.
Mark had the calamari and oyster creation.
We also had a couple of glasses of their delightful wines!
To finish I had the creme brulee – divine!
Mark had this extravagant thing – can’t quite remember what it was but doesn’t it look fabulous!
